Title
Change in Time of Holding Camp Meeting
Subject
Brushy Creek camp meeting, Greenbrier County, WV
Description
An article from the Greenbrier Independent notifying readers that the annual Brushy Ridge Camp Meeting start date was moved back a week due to wet weather. The article also instructs readers on how to claim tent lots and to bring 'good glass lanterns' to be used to light the alter for evening services. The article sheds light on religious revival tradition in the region. Although there is no direct connection between the Lewisburg post office mural and the Brushy Ridge campground, artist Robert Gates was probably aware of the tradition in the region.
